Ump Lipdub : (A little over) a year later

The Ump lipdub, released in 2009 under the initiative of the ”young” of the party was a real tidal wave. It was not, as UQAM, a positive buzz, but a bad one. A little over a year later, the Lipdub Team comes back on this lipdub.

An early announcement

It must be said that it had started bad for this Ump lipdub. While it was planned and announced on national television, it was released in advance by BFM TV, wich cut the rug from under the feet of the official communicators.

From this release, the “bad buzz” was launched: the negative comments have come from all sides. Purists lament the assembly not in terms of sequence. But the crowds popular decry the humorous efforts of the designers.

Copyrights breaches

If Ump had hoped that the attention falls after the release, the party was wrong on this point. Justice has mixed history, but the UMP had not really played fair: the copyright on the music (Anyone who wants to change the world, Mary May, taken from Luc Plamondon) were not resolved, the rights to the image of some activists were problematic too. Even the SNCF could have sued the party for unauthorized use of images of its trains (but it was eventually settled out of court). It’s been a lot of litigation for one video. Nobody can ignore the law – all the more when you are a politician!

A big buzz

First, one of the goals of a lipdub is to make a buzz. To this point, it’s pretty successful.

A pretty good realisation

The realisation itself is not so bad. Although the video is not done in terms of sequence, the image quality is good, the assembly dynamics. The song is nice and the people who sing appear to be motivated. The directors have placed in the script notes of humor and the cast shows the diversity of races, ages, body types … It gives a dynamic effect and “Lunch.” It could have been a good lipdub if it were not … … the UMP Lipdub.
